Organic edamame
Origin

Edamame beans are actually a soybean that has been picked too early. This achieves the softer consistency, whereas a soybean is hard.

Edamame, if translated into Chinese, means round and chubby, which also indicates the classic shape.

The beans have a somewhat special origin, because no one can actually say with certainty where they come from. However, there is a large consensus that they originate from Asia - and more specifically around Japan and China.

Today, however, the two countries are far down the list of producing countries. The USA, Argentina and Brazil, on the other hand, are the three largest producing countries - the USA with the largest amount of around 123 million tonnes against China's 14 million ton.
